Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve

This morning we drove almost an hour 25 miles from our AirBnB on winding roads to get to Montgomery Woods State Natural Preserve featuring a beautiful section of old growth redwoods.

The history of the Montgomery Woods.

Hiking the loop trail which takes about an hour and a half.

These redwoods are tall and I mean tall.

Taking a picture of Lynnette taking a selfie.

This giant redwood fell a long time ago and is still around.

Majestic.

Lynnette counting rings to figure how old this tree was.

Lynnette looks pretty small next to that big redwood.

Montgomery State Park alledgely has one of the tallest trees in the world.  We talked to a Ranger about it.  He confirmed it but said they deliberately don't disclose the location or mark the tree because of all the crazy people out there.

Peekaboo!

Lynnette finds a piece of wood!

My, that's a big one.

Reach for the sky!

This area reminded me of Muir Woods, north of San Francisco.

Remarkable.

We really enjoyed hiking the loop trail in Montgomery Woods SNR.  Recommended.
